Micro TIG Welding
“MICRO TIG WELDING” takes the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)/ Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) process to whole new amount of surgical precision. This technique is often found in the mold industry, where repairs often should be finished with minimum weld buildup.

In micro tig welding, the weld is completed employing a microscope and a custom small tig torch. The filler material wires found in this technique can go right down to .005” (5 tens of thousands of an inch). The utilization of the micro tig process is important to the repair of molds, as it leaves minimal to non-existent sink. (“Sink” is proof the weld where in fact the section close to the weld is leaner and then rises back around the first height of the material.)

Pre-heat and post-heat furnaces are employed as required, to greatly help stop the tool steels from cracking. The filler materials are purchased to fit the beds base metal material and/or match the beds base metal hardness.
